Once again I found myself at an amazing grubery. (I promise to report bad experiences that I come across)
PLACE: Doughboys, a wholesome and delicious sanctuary on West Third St. in Los Angeles. It is a little restaurant with SEATING: in and outdoor seating. My first impression of this place was OH MY. Everyone dining had a mouth watering dish in front of them. After asking the waiter at least 5 times "what are they eating over there" it made my decision of what to order so difficult. The menu was overflowing with good eats; gourmet salads, sandwiches, pizza, and even an extensive "tater" section. In this tater section you can find potato rounds in a nacho style smothered with yummy gooey ingredients. One that stood out to me was the "white trash" that had the potatoes under layers of onion, chopped beef, bacon, and creamy valveeta cheese!!!!
Eventually when ordering (after much debate) I went with the chicken pot pie. I am a chicken pot pie lover and since everything else looked so good, I knew it was going to be bomb. And to no surprise, when it came out, it was beaming in all of its glory of yumminess in a hot skillet. The pastry was only on the top via a thick flaky pastry round, solitarily floating on a steamy stew of chicken, peas, potatoes, and carrots. The pastry had a little hint of sweetness that contrasted perfectly with the savory chicken.
While enjoying my dish I was also eye balling the boyfriends dish. He got the Beefy Mac N Cheese. It was OK. It tasted like mac and cheese with hamburger helper...it was not my cup of tea considering I don't like hamburger helper. But what WAS my cup of tea was his little side of bread with the mac. It was the SO GREAT.... Chewy, soft, and buttered to perfection.
After demolishing my pie, I decided I would skip dessert, however they had some pretty good looking baked goods. OVERALL: Doughboys is amazing. Everything looked amazing, and everything I tasted was amazing.
Their website has their full menu, where you can also order delivery and take out.
